Top 10 Hottest Women in History

During Women’s History Month, we’d like to celebrate an aspect of historical females often overlooked by historians: their hotness. Powerful women throughout history have used their beauty as well as their intelligence to get ahead. It’s something successful modern women continue to do today. Here we will explore the history of hot and resourceful women and celebrate them the best way we know how: with a top 10 list.

The women on our list are ranked not only by beauty, but their historical significance and their effect on the men of their time. To be considered, they have to be dead and mentioned in history classes. We’ve excluded entertainers because there are already too many of those lists. Besides, we didn’t need them. Our list is political, royal, literary, and stands up to any celebrity list on the sexy scale.

No.10 - Charlotte Brontë

Charlotte Brontë
The eldest novelist of the three famous Brontë sisters, Charlotte Brontë had a dark family past. You know what that means? Daddy issues. Case in point, she married her father’s caretaker when her father was dying. Regardless, her wit and intelligence could match any gentleman of her time. Her book Jane Eyre sparked an early feminist movement and made her very popular in London’s high-class social circles. Still, she remained a homebody, preferring to curl up with a book of poetry. Imagine her reading to you by firelight with her impeccable English accent.

Mills Darden (October 7, 1799 – January 23, 1857 is alleged to have been one of the largest men in history. He was widely reported to have stood approximately 2.3 metres (7.5 ft) tall and is said to have weighed around 454 kilograms (1,000 lb) to 499 kilograms (1,100 lb) at his heaviest. If the reported figures are correct, Darden was 30 percent taller and about six times as heavy as the average American male of today.

Mills (or Miles) was born on October 7, 1799, near Rich Square, North Carolina, to John and Mary Darden. He was married at least once and had several children. His wife Mary, who died in 1837 aged about 40, was 1.50 metres (4.9 ft) tall and weighed 44.4 kilograms (98 lb) and the tallest of their sons reached 1.80 metres (5.9 ft) (tall for an era when the average adult American male only stood about 1.68 metres (5.5 ft)).

Mills made his living as a farmer and reportedly owned a saloon at some point. There are many tales of his enormous size and strength, although it is difficult to tell whether they are fact or fiction. However, a few cunning villagers measured his weight by marking the exact point his one-horse cart (which had springs) lowered to as he sat on it. Later on, they placed large rocks on the cart to see just how much weight it would take to match Mills sitting on it. They concluded that he weighed over a thousand pounds.[citation needed]

Darden died on January 23, 1857. He was buried in Lexington, Tennessee. His grave, and his wife's, have been restored by the local Development Authority. No known photo remains of him.

Lonely Boutique in Texas

This abandoned Prada store with solar panels on the roof is located on a desolate highway 90 in West Texas. It was built as a piece of art and promotional stunt by Scandinavian designers Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset who spent over $80,000 on it. The solar panels generated electricity during the day and at night this boutique’s show-window shined like a rainbow. Sadly, this project didn’t survive the time, because its walls were soon painted with graffiti, windows were broken and shoes were stolen. The funniest thing is that those shoes could only suit people with disabilities, because all of them were “right” foot shoes.

How to scare away things that go 'bump' in the night.

Okay so I know its well past Halloween, but ghost and spirits dont take the year off after Halloween, its a year round gig for them.. So if you have a house that's haunted, who do you call? [via]

How about a person who claims they see dead people?

"It's almost hip now to have a pet ghost these days," says medium and psychic Denise Guzzardo. "People have fun until the ghost starts breaking things and making the dog bark at 4 a.m. That's when they call me."
